Danny Hagen has been showing up for Skagit Valley his whole life
Danny Hagen has spent his whole life in this county — on a farm on Bow Hill, on youth basketball courts, in the boardrooms of nonprofits, and inside the Assessor's Office. Over the past four years as your elected Assessor, he's worked to make one of local government's most complex jobs a fair, transparent, and accessible to the people it serves.
He's asking to continue that work.

Assessor Danny Hagen: Four Years of Proven Leadership
When Danny took office four years ago, he made specific promises: more transparency, greater fairness, and better tools for the people whose tax bills fund our schools, roads, and community services.
Here's what that looked like in practice.
Led work on legislative improvements to expand the Senior & Persons with Disabilities Exemption program — because keeping longtime residents in their homes matters.
Launched online portals for senior exemptions and business personal property filings, so you don't have to take time off work to interact with your government.
Expanded bilingual capacity so more of our community can understand and navigate the system.
Made transparency and accessibility a priority with more than 60 public presentations to over 2,000 Skagit County residents, because a government you understand is a government you can trust.
Implemented advanced street-view imagery technology to improve assessment accuracy while enhancing taxpayer privacy.
Completed over 200 hours of continuing education and is currently a Mass Appraisal Specialist (MAS) designation candidate with the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO).
Helped restore and transition the PACS User Conference into a sustainable, user-led training event that now provides effective, affordable, and relevant education to more than 70 Assessor’s Office staff across the state.
Danny Hagen is Respected by His Peers
Danny is currently President of the Washington State Association of County Assessors (WSACA). His election reflects the trust of his peers across political perspectives and recognizes his ability to build consensus, bridge differences, and move important work forward.
If you haven’t met Danny around town, you probably know someone who has.
Danny Hagen doesn't just work in this community — he's invested in it. For years, he's shown up not as a candidate, but as a neighbor. For Danny, public service isn't something you do during an election. It's something you show up for every day.
Board Chair, Community Action of Skagit County — working on local issues including housing, food access, and economic stability for families in need.
Board Chair, Chinook Enterprises — supporting employment and independence for people with disabilities.
Burlington Rotary Club member, supporting service projects that bring together public, nonprofit, and business leaders to address local needs.
Leadership Skagit Class of 2018 — Following his graduation, he volunteered with the program for seven consecutive years, serving in a variety of roles including advisor, curriculum, and facilitator. His continued involvement reflected a belief that developing thoughtful, ethical leaders is one of the most meaningful ways to serve the community and ensure long-term stability.
Past President of Sedro Woolley Shine and Rise Toastmasters.
Accountable to Constituents
The Office of Assessor is not a partisan role. It is a technical, statutory responsibility that must be administered fairly and consistently for everyone, regardless of political belief.
Danny runs as an Independent because he believes the work should be grounded in facts, equity, and accountability, not party affiliation.
His responsibility is to the people of Skagit County as a whole. He is committed to ensuring every taxpayer feels they are treated equitably and that decisions are made based on sound practices, not politics. His record speaks for itself, but so do the people who have worked with him.
“I support Danny Hagen for Skagit County Assessor. His in-depth knowledge and years of experience in the Skagit County Assessor’s Office make him the ideal candidate. Add to that his stellar reputation as an accountable and responsible leader. From personal experience, I know Danny brings a passion for accuracy, fairness, equity, and transparency to his commitments. The bottom line for me is that Danny is a trusted member of the community with the professional skills to excel at the job. Please join me to elect Danny as our next County Assessor.”
Kate Bennett, Leadership Skagit Director (Retired)
