Vote in the Primary Election, August 2
Vote in the Skagit County Primary Election, August 2nd
I know. I hear it all the time — does my vote really matter? Does the race for these local offices really matter all that much. And I get it. It can be tough to remember to vote in all the elections, especially when it’s a primary and in a non-presidential election year, to boot.
But make no mistake, these elections for what may seem insignificant offices are often the elections with the biggest impacts on our daily lives, even if they’re not highlighted and speechified in national news.
And don’t ever be fooled into thinking that one vote, your vote, won’t make a difference. There are numerous instances of elections, even here in Washington State, being decided by literally one vote!
So if you’re not registered, get yourself registered to vote! You can do that here. But you have to do it (online or by mail) by July 25th. You can register in person up to the date of the election. Ballots will begin mailing on July 13th.
Important Primary Election Dates:
July 13: Domestic ballots mailed
July 25: Deadline to register or update existing registration online and by mail
August 2: Deadline for in-person registration and voter updates - Closes 8:00 PM
August 2: Primary Election – Closes 8:00 PM
August 9: Canvassing Board Meeting – 1:30 PM*
